The ice sheets will melt. / Things will get ugly.
Most people don’t get to have it all; most people are fighting for just a fraction of what’s left. The people with the biggest share fight hardest to keep what’s theirs.
A key measure of privilege is abstraction. How distant does something feel from having the power to affect you, personally? How many degrees removed are you from someone who is hurt by or benefits from the status quo? I mean it’s one banana...what could it cost? $10?
If you write about finance or economics or policy or politics and you can’t remember the last time you worried about how much money was in your bank account or how you would make rent or you didn’t know whether you would be allowed to use a bathroom or if your kids would be suspended for wearing their hair the way it grows out of their heads, that’s a kind of bias, too.

A new planet will be “discovered” 31 light-years away. Space travel will advance rapidly, making the journey feasible. The ice sheets will melt. Things will get ugly.
