to do good sometime / Accounted dangerous folly

A checklist for 2025:

  • check titers / re-up on shots against mumps, measles, rubella

  • tell people the HPV vaccine a) saves lives b) is recommended for folks ages 9 - 45

  • know who your people are, and know who consider you to be theirs

  • know what your lines are and how you will know if you cross them

  • be intolerant of time-grifters

  • if it sounds too good to be true, check. if it sounds too awful to be real, check. if it sounds exactly as plausible as everything else has, check

  • support artists and not just “the arts”

  • preserve the media you want to continue to watch / read / listen to

  • pay for the media you want to continue to watch / read / listen to

  • find out who’s doing the most useful work locally and give them slightly more than you feel like you can afford

  • make time for downtime

  • learn something new with new people

  • reuse more than you recycle

    Whither should I fly?
I have done no harm. But I remember now
I am in this earthly world, where to do harm
Is often laudable, to do good sometime
Accounted dangerous folly. Why then, alas,
Do I put up that womanly defense
To say I have done no harm?
